There is a lot of information and for a novice, quite an eye opening experience to learn about all of the different teas and the processing stages. I loved the cupping exercises, but did find it hard to describe flavors and aromas. I hope my palate will grow with time! Excited to continue my studies.

Absolutely! You don’t need prior tea knowledge to start. Our CORE program is designed for beginners, and we’ll guide you every step of the way.

Yes! Every time you complete a course, you’ll receive an official certificate to showcase your progress.

The Core program is designed around taking a total of seven classes. Core.01 and Core.02 are suggested to take in sequence before moving on to any of the other classes in the program. After you’ve taken Core.01 and Core.02, you can take any of the remaining classes in any order you choose. All Advanced (ADV) programs have a total of seven classes in each. Anyone with a basic knowledge of the six types of tea and understanding of the professional cupping protocol can take these classes. But, you must have earned a WTA Certified Tea Specialist™ certification to receive any Advanced Level Certification. Please note: Some ADV classes have prerequisites. Please check each individual class to see if this applies.

This course was very useful to me to understand what goes into formulating tea blends. It was fun to create my own breakfast blend of black teas. I thoroughly enjoyed blending various botanicals into tea and learning how to determine a formula between percentages and resulting grams. I feel more comfortable being able to create even more blends on my own for my own pleasure. I can turn my own kitchen into a tea science lab.

Each course is fascinating and I am continuously surprised by the life of tea. I was really excited for cupping this round and feel that I am strengthening my 5 senses each time I practice. I also enjoyed the week 3 instructor assignments – creating your own blend and the sensory sheet organization system. I am looking forward to Core 3. Thanks for a great course!
